Meet the team
It's great to meet you!
I'm Marie and the founder of Paws with a Cause. Prior to starting my career with animals, I worked as a Police Officer and in Social Services for 15 years.
I have had a passion for animals my entire life, and started volunteering at the Ottawa Humane Society in 2008 as a dog walker. My love for rescue animals only grew from there, and I continued to volunteer on a weekly basis until 2013 when I had to relocate to Northern Ontario for work. Once in Timmins, I started volunteering at the Humane Society as a dog walker and cat caretaker, until my transfer back to my hometown in 2016. Since 2016 I have worked as a kennel attendant and have continued as a volunteer.
International rescue organizations are also very important to me, and I have been involved with small groups who are fighting the dog meat trade and stray dog issues, where there are currently no animal welfare laws. A big part of my business has a focus on raising awareness through a blog on my website, where everyone can see first-hand where the 25% is going, showcasing animals for adoption and seeing the rescue missions as they happen, boots on the ground.
Lucie joined the team in January and helps out with cat sitting and mid-day leash walks.
As a retired nanny, Lucie brings over 20 years of experience as a caregiver for children ranging from newborn to adolescents, and has worked for families who also required help with their dogs.
Before taking her new role on with Paws with a Cause, she attended obedience classes in order to help take care of your pets.
Meet and greets are my version of a free consultation to give me the opportunity to meet you and your pet to assess specific needs and wants, such as the appropriate amount of exercise for your pet, and feeding instructions and medication administration.
